I love it when my son says, “Can you read me a story mommy?” His dad and I have been reading to him since he was in my belly, which is why he not only has a love a reading by a gift for gab at only 3 years old.

Are you going to pledge to read today and read The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats with us on October 7?

“There’s nothing more important than making sure our children have the tools they need to succeed and literacy is essential to this. I think if we all make it a priority to introduce children to reading and education at early ages, they will be more interested in these things as they grow up and be better equipped for success.” -Patti LaBelle

I 100% agree with Patti. I see the living proof in my son every time he picks up a book and reads with me. To win a copy of “The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats” just answer this question in the comment box below: “What is one book that you love reading to your child or loved to read as a kid?” – Be sure to leave your email address, so I can notify you if you won!

This campaign also kicks off Jumpstart’s yearlong program, preparing preschool children in low-income neighborhoods for success in school and life. Getting our kids to start reading and keep reading is so important! I hope you join us and pledge to read to the children in your life on October 7.

I love to read so many books to my son and his classmates in K4! Some of our favorites are any Dr. Seuss book specifically "The Cat in the Hat", "Green Eggs and Ham", and "Oh the Places You'll Go". We also like "Harold and the Purple Crayon", "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and "The Mixed-up Chameleon".

We participated in this last year, so we are definitely doing it again. Great to see a recognizable face on the campaign.

We love Dr. Seuss "My Many Colored Days".

I can't wait to read the President's new book, Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters when it comes out in November.

My favorite was always "Where The Wild Things Are". I now read it to my son but he is not as big of a fan of it as I am. Thanks for the chance! justicecw@hotmail.com
